Windows user’s comments on Macworld 2006

I’m a PC guy who was wooed over a period of years by my good friend John Nemo to attend the “Great Mac Expo,” as he put it. This year I finally made it. His description of this show and subsequent pictures he sent me of last year’s festivities didn’t even come close to describing this monolithic event.

After getting registered, tagged, and instructed, I made my way down the three flights of stairs into the main hall. I walked into the huge convention room and was overwhelmed — sensory overload. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many geeks in one place. And I was one of them. Here I went, into the fray, not knowing where anything was because I had no map of the excellently organized floor.

I asked one of the presenters where the Brenthaven booth was. He said he would look it up for me and told me the number, pointed up to the ceiling to show me the huge numbers which corresponded to the various booths, and I soon realized that it was very easy to find any booth by finding the company’s booth number and following the signs. I was in heaven.

I quickly found Epson, Hewlet Packard, Adobe, Canon, and everything else that pertained to my life as a guerilla photographer. All of the presenters spoke with me as though I was the very first person they saw that day. It was 2:00 PM when I first entered the hall. I can’t wait to get back tomorrow and spend spend the day learning about printers, cameras, scanners, and finally, how a Mac works. I’ll be buying a laptop soon and John swears that if I don’t get a Mac I’ll be damned to hell forever.
