Hey, who needs sleep anyway, right? That apparently is the attitude of the guests in the room right next to mine who decided, at 4AM, to constantly open and slam their door for a while. But honestly, it was the barrage of marijuana smoke creeping into my my room via the adjoining door that woke me up this early in the morning. Ah, how nice, a new day already on only four hours of sleep.
With a newborn baby at home, that is probably three hours more than I would have got anyway. But still.
Oh, yes, I did call the front desk and complain. I hate that smell, I really, really do. And how, you ask, do I know what it smells like? I tried marijuana when I was a teen, and hated it then only slightly less that I hate it now. And besides, it is illegal. I don’t care if you think it should be legal or not, the fact is it is illegal now. I don’t expect to have to wake up at 4AM on a chilly night and open my balcony door to the cool air so I won’t get a massive contact buzz.
While I am up, I am attempting to post the podcast from yesterday. The problem is once most people are awake here in the hotel, the WiFi becomes virtually useless. They are either sharing a single cable modem connection with all five hundred rooms, or all the Mac guys in the hotel are downloading large porn files at the same time. Either way, I can’t get my work done, which makes me very, very happy. I am getting about half the speed at 4AM than I was on Sunday at 9PM. Nice.
After the chaos of yesterday, the busiest of the week with the Steve Jobs keynote and faux reporters leaving, the showroom floor should be much more easier to navigate and get some actual work done. (If I can stay awake.) Yesterday was filled with busy work, but a lot less actual coverage of the showroom floor than I had hoped for. The next three days (Today, Thursday, and Friday) are all about the floor and bring you pictures, articles, podcasts, and video segments. The video segments are a problem in that in that it takes so long to edit and put together, it takes time away from other tasks. And even when I can do them, there is no way this cookie cutter wireless network in my hotel will allow me to upload them to the website. So our video coverage may just be posted next week. That would suck. But it will still be informative and entertaining.
Well, off to work on some of our video stuff!
