What’s behind the curtain Steve, Phil, anyone?

As we await the triumphant entry of Messiah Jr., many hopes and wishes spring forth from a place deep inside. I have grown to view the annual keynote as the place where all the frustrations of the previous year just fade away under the reality adjustment offered by Steve and his Merry Band of Minstrels, AKA, the executive team at Apple.

My heart is always aflutter as the keynote approaches. I can usually be found giddy with excitement over the new Apple product I will undoubtedly be purchasing. The sights and sounds of San Francisco. The electricity in the air. Steve and his golden remote control on stage at Moscone West. What could be better?

The curtains hanging prominently within the lobby of Moscone South have been obscured by grey curtains which have been expertly placed so as not to reveal any of the top secret Apple product information lurking beneath.

What is behind the curtain?

To me, those grey curtains reveal more about Apple than any product announcement hidden behind. With the recent removal of Steve as the keynote speaker, and the revelation that Apple will no longer be attending Macworld, there is a sense that Apple is approaching a time of transition.
There are many unanswered questions that cast a grey fog over the future of the company not unlike those curtains that hang so prominently in the south hall.
Will Steve continue as Apple’s CEO? How will the company proceed under new leadership? How will these changes impact future Macworlds? And, most importantly, what will become of my annual pilgrimage of hope?
Please, someone remove the curtains and let me be happy again!
