Today, Boston Herald publisher Pat Purcell announced that legendary columnist, Mike Barnicle, would be returning to the Boston newspaper market, writing a column for the Herald, every Tuesday and Wednesday.
I say, Yes! Mr. Barnicle was forced to resign from the Boston Globe, back in 1998, over charges of fabricating some columns, and borrowing some quotes from a George Carlin Book, without proper attribution. Well, as I have mentioned in one of my own columns, I think what the Boston Globe did to the man stinks like the Fleet center Men’s room, after a big game. I find it hard to believe that a well-respected journalist, with 25 years of experience, would do such a thing.
I think it’s terrific that Mike Barnicle’s columns will now be running in the Herald, and I’m looking forward to reading them. Do I agree with him all the time? No, but he’s always interesting.
