Web Browsing on the Fly

I haven’t blogged on MyMac in while, but I thought start back up by sharing a neat little open source web browser that you can access by clicking the default Command+F1. It slides out from the left side of your desktop. There’s also an Exposé style presentation, but it takes over your entire desktop, which is in a no-no in my book.

But so far I like how swift and clean this browser is. I’ll think I’ll try using it for a few of my most frequently visited sites where I don’t want to populate my desktop with several web pages. Plus, it might a very useful for small laptop users.

And no, DeskBroswe doesn’t have all the advanced functionalities of Safari and Firefox. You create new taps, you can control click to go backward and foreword between visited pages, you can add and import bookmarks, but it doesn’t like you can create folders of bookmarks.

The first version of this application will no doubt get some much needed updates. It would be nice for example to simply mouse over to the side of your screen and have DeskBrowse slide out and back in when you’re finished with it.

Nevertheless, it’s a clean little application and it’s free, so there’s no excuse not to give it a try.
