Egad! I haven’t posted in about 1,000 years, don’t know what’s been going on. But I just saw something in the Sunday Santa Fe New Mexican that bears repeating.
Probably you’ve seen this where you live. The Best Buy advertising supplement yesterday led off with a special offer: for only $99, Best Buy will “set up” your new Vista-equipped PC and transfer data from your old machine, especially all your digital photos! Wow. Isn’t that great?!?
Who knew that Windows users needed that kind of help for something as simple as copying image files? As for “setting up,” I know we all do that differently, but in recent years, Apple has made this something of a non-issue for most Mac users. Maybe if you’re coming to Mac OS from Windows, sure. That might require hand-holding. But can you imagine buying a new Mac from an Apple Store and then paying an extra $99 to have the genius transfer all your old files?
Probably a Best Buy issue here, not really a Windows thing. No doubt someone has an opinion.
