UnBox 8 – Feral Interactive

Most UnBox packages come in, well, a box. Not so today with a padded envelope delivered via the USPS. Feral Interactive is the moniker on the return address, London to be precise.

I know that Feral is starting to make a big name for itself in Mac gaming circles, and in fact they had shipped me Sid Meier’s Pirates! a few weeks ago. I also know that they have LEGO Indiana Jones coming out pretty soon, but I think it is still to early for that game to show up here at MyMac HQ.

Ah-ha! It’s ToCA Race Driver 3! I love racing games, and have not played any on my Mac since a Need for Speed a while back. To be honest, with my schedule and workload, I know almost nothing about ToCA Race Driver 3.

Jumping up to the Feral Website show a very promising looking game. It has 70 licensed cars and 80 licensed tracks, so the game sounds full of fun content!

ToCA stands for Touring Car, but there is also, according the website, NASCAR, DTM (I have no idea what that stands for. Anyone?) Street racing, and even Go-Kart vehicles.

You can play online with up to twelve other players, meaning I will be lucky to come in tenth place when I finally have a chance to check the game out. It also advertises true mechanical effects such as blown engines, burst tires, overheating radiators, and more. Sadly, there appears to be no “Repo” mode for those drivers who didn’t pay their bills, something every real-life Racing sim should sport.

Price: $50
