UnBox 10 – Marching to my own Drummer

In the midst of writing another review, a new UnBox package arrives!

The return address is from eMedia, the company that makes all the music learning software titles. I have reviewed one or two myself, years ago, but usually it is John Nemo reviewing the eMedia programs. So what ever is in this box will be a surprise, as I have no idea what it is.

Ah-ha! It is iDrum! Wait, what’s iDrum? Learning to play the drums? Let’s just online and find out more!

Okay, so iDrum is not software to learn how to play drums, but rather software that works either on its own or via GarageBand to make your own drum beats! How cool is that?

iDrum is actually a product from iZotope, and is distributed by eMedia. I found a press release in my “saved” email box, which describes what iDrum is:

iDrum Version 1.7 is a customizable, expandable, easy-to-use virtual drum machine. It includes an enormous sound library and allows you to add your own sounds to get exactly the feel you want. iDrum can be used on its own or seamlessly with GarageBand, Logic, Abelton Live, Pro Tools, SONAR, Cubase, Digital Performer and other host programs. New for version 1.7 of iDrum is the ability to create rhythms in different time signatures 4/4, 3/4, 5/4, 6/8, 9/8 and beyond. You can even share your sounds and beats with iDrum Editions for iPhone and iPod touch. iDrum Version 1.7 will be released in October and be available at computer and music retail stores nationwide at an estimated retail price of $59.95. The CD-ROM is a hybrid for both Windows (XP/Vista) and Macintosh (OS X 10.4 or later).

So there you go!

Price: $59.95
