Many Xbox360 users (myself included) ran out and picked up Halo 3 today, supposedly the last game of the series from Bungie Studio. With all the fanfare for what is essentially nothing more than a refined version of Halo 2, I thought I would clue in those who may not know: Halo was originally going to be a Macintosh game. That’s right, the first Halo was going to be a Mac game, just like the popular Bungie game Myth: The Fallen Lords.
Halo did eventually come to the Macintosh, in 2004, which I reviewed. Halo 2 was recently (finally) released for Windows, although for Vista only. And today, the 25th, Halo 3 marks its debut.
So far, I have only played a little of the single player campaign, and an hour of multiplayer action. (The later of which I usually die often and brutally, but I am never the lowest ranked at the end of the game.) So far, it does not seem too much different than Halo 2. Prettier, sure, and much more balanced in weapons, but still not much different than Halo 2. While I am enjoying it, it feels more like visiting an old friend, rather than a new adventure. Perhaps my opinion will change as I play it more, although finding time to REALLY get into it is in short supply.
Anyone else playing Halo 3?
