The New Airport Extreme Base Station

I just installed one of the new Airport Extreme Base Stations at my school to solve some wireless signal strength issues. I read that the signal was more powerful, but I didn’t know what to expect.

We have tons of metal, and who knows what else, in the walls of my school that interfere with wireless internet signals. Some areas of the building are so bad that a computer two rooms down from a Linksys box cannot get a good signal.

After reading about the results people were having with the new Airport Extreme, we decided to give it a try. I figured if it helped a little it would be worth it.

Well, the results are ten times better than I expected! The new Airport Extreme Base Station is amazing! Let me retype that: AMAZING!!!!!

Not only did it reach the areas that could not get a signal from a Linksys box located in the same location, but the signal in those areas are at full strength now. The signal is covering an area of the building that we currently have 6 Linksys boxes in.

Even surfing on the internet seems faster. None of the computers have wireless N capabilities, but websites are loading a lot faster on the eMacs in my room.

This is not an official review, but I highly recommend the new Airport Extreme Base Station. It is fantastic!
