A few years ago, an unknown author presumed to be George Carlin wrote ‘A Bad American.‘ I thought I would attempt to write a similar unsourced list of observations and put a Canadian twist on it
I shop in big box stores like Walmart and I have no problems with that. When your finances are stretched to the limit like a rubber band, every penny counts. And yes I am pretty aware of the fact that you get what you pay for.
I have seen Super Size Me and it has not deterred me to still go to McDonald’s, Burger King etc. When you have an appointment in 15 mins and your blood sugar is low, you have no time to be picky with food nor the time to wait while your chef is busy catching your lunch/dinner..
I don’t believe that some gay couples are endowed with enough reason and commitment to get married. But then, I also think some couples whether same-sex or not are endowed with enough reasons to get married.
I believe that marriage is the main source of divorce. So next time anybody complain of divorce rate rising, look at the marriage rate first and work on that
I don’t just think that just because we have a less strict immigration policy, same sex marriage is in principle legal and decriminalizing marijuana is on the works that the country is full of good and tolerant people. I know several of them have huge problems with racism. For all it’s faults I’m fine living here.
On certain occassions, I don’t feel like being tolerant.
Just because I am Canadian does not mean I am anti-Bush or anti-war. Nor do I have a Greenpeace membership card.
I don’t blame religion on all of society’s troubles but I do not absolve them on SOME of society’s troubles.
I believe personal income tax should have been done away a long time ago since the reason it was introduced on the first place has been done away a long time ago.
The post Christmas tsunami was a disaster and I can understand the outpouring of support for it. But I do not understand why suddenly people’s purses opened up so easily and their energy concentrated on just this one effort. And yet, neglecting to realize that there are other disasters in the world that actually killed and would kill more people than the past tsunami which also badly needed their effort and money.
I wish people would stop using lines like “I don’t want my tax dollars going to fund this and that activity” to object on how the government fund various endeavors. “Missy, your 675 dollars tax last year already went to that road that got paved last summer so you can punch a hole on it again with your SUV “
I have a problem that the government is funding the Methadone project. For me treating drug addiction with a drug is like “Fighting for Peace” or using a bandaid when you need stitches.
.I have an issue on people making a big issue of funding for ESL classes in public schools being cut. I feel that if you want to move to Canada, the least you can do is to have at least a conversational capability to use either of the two official language of the country. And if you really need to learn either of the language to be a functional member of the Canadian society, it should come out of your pocket.
Canada seem to be a country that runs on principles of socialism and yet I have not much love on how the labour unions operate now. I believe overall they are just self-serving and inflexible despite how they always use the “affects the services rendered to the public” card when their .45 vacation days per year is reduced to 40.
I have no problems that Air Canada spent couple of millions of dollars on advertising as a part of its plan to get out of near bankcruptcy. This despite the protestation of unionized workers who gave up more than $1 billion a year in cost cuts to help in the airline’s restructuring. You have to spend money to make money.
I do no listen much to the rhetorics of my local candidate during provincial or federal elections. Because at the end of the day, when they are elected, they are more loyal to their affiliated party’s position than to the local community they suppose to represent. Any dissenting view can be sum up in one word : backbenchers.
I think garlic sausage is quite possibly the perfect food
I do not own a cellphone, I do not want to be available ALL THE TIME!
If you have the gall to call me while I am having dinner or pry me away from watching King of the Hill, it better be important or that I have won 10 million dollars.
If you call me and you are trying to sell me a Canadian product, you better be calling from Canada!
I do not understand how parents blame videogames or inappropriate tv programming for their kids behaviour. They should have not bought that game console or the television in the first place.
I believe kid’s internet activity is not a private thing. You never leave your kid alone in your house without a sitter or someone watching over them. So what is a computer doing in your kid’s bedroom leaving them open to the World Wide Web.
I detest “Not In My Backyard” attitude. That road has to be built somewhere, if not in your area, it would be in somebody else’s neighborhood. So goes the cycle again.
I believe that credit cards are meant to be a replacement for cash not free cash. It was meant to be a convenience so you do not have to carry cash around all the time. So quit complaining if the bank gouges you in interest and hidden fees when you do not pay your purchases and balances in full.
Driving is a privilege. I believe if you hit someone and run, your license should be revoked and never be allowed to drive again.. So is driving under the influence.
I believe that I should have no or minimal liability if I run over someone’s foot because they are standing too close to the curb while they wait for the lights to turn green.
I believe I should have no or minimal liability nor my insurance should go up, if I hit someone who is jaywalking.
If that makes me a Bad Canadian, then I guess I am a bad Canadian
