Now first off, not to sound sexist, I should describe Macworld demographics on the floor. To be blunt, the crowd is mostly men of all ages, tilting heavily in the 20 to 40 year range, and a scattering of woman as well, but not nearly as many. Macworld is a total “nerd fest” for Mac lovers of all kind, but mostly young guys.

Made two pages of notes waiting for others to arrive. Probably not able to get all scribbled on Tekserve loaner iBook tonight, but will try to be comprehensive and coherent. Said farewell to new colleague Owen Rubin before departing Moscone. He REALLY made the Macworld experience a winner for me, and will soon begin to publish features and reviews on a multitude of topics.

Macworld Expo is smallest in many years, fewest exhibitors, least number of new wowzer products, but quality and commitment is tops in every category. Entire show could fit into giant South Hall, which would change flavor of event but make it more buzzworthy, MUCH easier to see more products in less time.

I left you in suspense, not being able to finish part one. Wrote that first segment in Moscone Media Room (#104, under south escalator, if you’re looking for Nemo + Rubin) on an eMac provided by the conference. Wanted to try Panther out on the eMac. It’s okay, but not as swift as I would like. Room for improvement in OS X performance? Yes, indeed. Will compare to mighty Tekserve iBook tomorrow, which boots into OS 9.2.2.
