Das Keyboard Professional for Mac – Review

As I begin to type this review, my heart is filled with sadness. Don’t get me wrong, the Das Keyboard may be the best keyboard I have ever used. No, the reason the sadness is setting in is simple: I have to send this back once my review is over. And truth be told, which is paramount in any review, I have put off this review for too many months. I kept telling myself that was because I just needed more time to use the Das Keyboard before I felt confident to write a review. I was lying to myself. I just wanted to keep using it.

A while back, I was talking with an engineer who is also a big Mac fan. He uses a docked Macbook Pro in the office, attached to a big monitor and a… IBM keyboard? Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was an original IBM Model M keyboard, which I have always considered the best pure typing keyboard ever made. When I asked him about it, it sparked a half-hour conversation, in which he agreed it was the best ever made, and he showed me the PS2 to USB adapter he used to make the old keyboard work on his modern Macintosh.
