QuickSnap Review Revisited

Back in May I reviewed a screen capture utility by Fastforward Software called QuickSnap. At the time I gave the program a 3.5 out of 5 rating. Recently, version 1.2.1 of QuickSnap was released and it promised a lot of bug fixes that I mentioned in my original review.

I downloaded the new version and gave it a spin. Did it fix the issues I had in my original review? Let’s go through each one:

1. The preference panel used to open every time you opened the QuickSnap software. Fixed? Yes.

2. QuickSnap allows you to save your captures in many different file formats. I had problems opening these formats in different programs like Photoshop. Fixed? Yes. However, the PSD or Photoshop format is no longer an option.

3. One feature I need (and needed then) in a screen capture program is the ability to take shots of menus. The original version of QuickSnap would not allow for this. Fixed? Yes.

4. One complaint I had with the original QuickSnap was the inability to adjust the quality and file size of the screen captures. Fixed? No, but as I said in my original review this is an annoyance and not a bug.

So, it appears as if the team working on QuickSnap has been hard at work fixing what was a program that had a lot of promise in May. It is now a program I can definitely recommend. It was $14.95 in May, and still is today. A great value, for an easy to use screen capture utility.

It has a great new icon, too!

Based on this new version I can revise my rating from a 3.5 to a 4.5. I still want to see that ability to adjust file sizes and quality.
