Note from Nemo:
The following text describes what Artie did in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to turn a peculiar but ordinary snapshot of me, taken at my birthday party, into a bizarre example of Photo Art. I’ll be presenting more examples from Artie’s evolving creativity, from time to time here in MyMac.com Blog Land. We welcome your comments, especially when written for all to see, at the bottom of this page.
Here’s the completed photo:
Now, here is what Artie did to create it. He tells MyMac.com:
I had to lighten your original so that when I cut/pasted it on top of the mesa pix it would be translucent and I could manipulate it as necessary. I tried the Adobe Photomerge feature but it doesn’t allow the manipulation necessary.
After the superimposing was done I added JJ (our dog) on to the mesa at your left, and added the heads cropped from stock pix I happen to have of Marlin, Peter, George, and myself as the Hulk.
I used the marquee tool to get rid of the text at the top and replaced it with the horizontal type tool text with the colors I sampled with the eyedropper tool. Same thing with your hand.
The brush tool and color palette allowed me to get a searing sun effect. I used the clone tool around my face to get the same texture and color as the hulk. I did have some detail work to do around all the faces where it wouldn’t look right if I just dropped them in there.
I used the smear tool to meld everything softly together (the zoom tool is especially handy when doing this type of detail work) and the burn tool to get the faces to look like they weren’t jumping off the page.
As for the light show at your fingertips and "urp" I used the smear tool to get the colors coming off your gloves, and the brush tool with the color palette for the "light" effect. After all this was done I used Photoshop’s Quick Fix palette to get the color intensity I wanted; the brightness/contrast is a very handy thing.
That’s it in a nutshell. I love doing stuff like this. It ain’t art but it’s fun.
