One way cool web app

Cloud computing gets lots of attention these days. Apps for word processing, image manipulation, easy website creation and publishing, but one that seems to go under the radar is music. Specifically listening to music. Everyone has an Mp3 player or a phone that plays music files (whether it’s an iPod/ iPhone or whatever), and streaming music is hardly anything new. JukeFly takes all the mystery out of it with a clean simple interface that is remarkably fast (with a decent web connection). Keywords make it easy to get to the genre you’re interested in.

There are links back to Amazon.com if you want to purchase the song you just listened to (played in its entirety not a 30 second clip). Not everything from every artist is there, but it is a pretty amazing wide selection of at least the more popular stuff in the genres I looked at.

For Windows users, you can set up your personal music folders to stream so you can easily listen to your music at any other computer by logging into the JukeFly site. It doesn’t actually transfer the tunes to JukeFly (and bring down the wrath of all the various music publishers) just a link back to your computer to play it through the “Cloud” (OOOOhhh futureish!). No Mac client yet exists and this alone made me hesitate before writing about this, but even without an account or being able to stream my personal music this is a great way to listen to a lot of great music and get a feel for what you may want to buy in the future.
