No Street View For iPod Touch 2.2?

One of the features of the iPhone 2.2 update that seems to be getting a lot of attention is the Google Maps Street View. Many sites I frequent are quick to point out that this feature is missing from the iPod Touch update.

Personally, I could care less about this feature. I never use it on my computer, so why would I use it on the Touch (or iPhone if I had one)? I don’t even use Google Maps.

I’m more excited about the features the Touch DID get. How about the fact that I can now download podcasts onto the Touch! That’s one more reason I can leave my laptop home on trips. If this feature was missing from the Touch update I would be upset.

I really like the “click the home button and go back to the first screen” feature. This may seem like a little thing, but I really like it.

Oh, and I almost forgot how links to apps in the iTunes Store from a website now open the App Store on the iPod/iPhone. No need to search for the app when there is a link ready to get you there.

Finally, there is a bug fix for surfing on networks secured with WPA. Prior to this fix I could not surf the internet on the Touch at work. It was worse than dial-up. I figured it was the network firewall blocking something. Turns out, it was this bug that is now fixed. I can surf away on the Touch from my classroom (which is full of iMacs, but that is besides the point).

So, iPhone users can keep the Google Maps Street View. I’m happy with what I have on my Touch without it.
