Well, first of all, I couldn’t upgrade my browser on Classic, or OS 9.2 as I like to call it, although my husband tells me there is a difference, and I believe him, because after all: 1) He’s my husband, and, 2) He’s a software slut, and I’m a hardware whore. (A marriage made in heaven.) So of course I bought the top of the line powerbook, well not really, I settled for the 15″ display instead of the 17″, but other than that, I’ve got max RAM, max processor, blah, blah, blah. It’s a nice machine. I’d like the hard drive to remain pristine. You know, none of those little shareware apps that do one function that for instance change the icon in the browser bar or any of that crap.
Second reason, hey, I’ve been under a lot of stress lately so a new computer is my reward.
Third reason is because I wanted to give my old iBook, which is still quite functional, to my grandson. Somewhere on some hard drive there is a picture of me with my grandson on the day he came home from the hospital. He was three days old, and the picture shows me with my (newly acquired iBook) and him. I didn’t do so well with my own kids, they are PC all the way, but this grandson is gonna be Mac all the way. Yessiree bob.
Also, finally I’m wireless. I’m sitting back in my recliner, writing, soon to post. So that is reason four.
Reason five, I decided that I have got to quit being scared of OSX and oh jeebus has it been five years?
Reason six, I wanted the screensaver (registration required) called “2005 Discovery Channel Team”. Lance and all, you know, Lance and Big Georgie and last but not least, in fact in my heart certainly first, Eki
Reason seven, two finger scrolling on the trackpad. Holy mother of god, what an innovation! Two finger scrolling is the sexiest computer thingy on the planet.
Reason eight, I think that bluetooth technology will be very cool at some point, even though I haven’t figured it out yet. But I’m sure I will.
Reason nine is because I wanted it.
Now, the work begins. I think I may give Nemo a heart attack when he finds out that in the five years that I owned the now out of daily service iBook I’ve never, ever, ever, backed up ONCE. NOT ONCE, NEMO! NEVER! EVER! But then again, that’s where all the work comes in now, all that backing up. And who wants to do all that work, when there is a new computer with which to play? Then again, as Larry the Cable Guy says, “Get ‘er Done! Awwright.
More later. Who knows, maybe one of these days I’ll do a podcast. Of course, if I do, I’ll put my teeth in first.
CKS/bl Tridiot Rating: (Hey Chris, I’m baaaacccckkkkk!) 42.
