New Year Reflections

Wow! Happy New Year!

I’m not ready! I’m still reeling from Thanksgiving, and then quite suddenly – Christmas.

It seems there is never quite enough time to compose oneself adequately for all the celebration, the food, the hugs and kisses (from someone other than one’s wife), and all the well-wishes from so many people in our lives, most of whom we don’t know nearly as well as we like (and half of whom we know twice as much as we would want to? -Bilbo Baggins, LOTR)

Scratch that last aside – I don’t know anyone twice as much as I want to. Each of them are friends and people I wished I knew better.

I Just know this new year will be filled with great things, not the least of which will appear next week at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco! (Is there a new Mac in your new year?)

For all of you, my readers (all three of you) I wish the best of times, as well as health, long life, and prosperity (and I hope you keep your eyesight, so you can continue to be a reader!)

But, seeing the horrific events of a week ago, when so many people lost their families, their possessions, and even their lives, it is hard to be too joyous at this new year’s appearance, isn’t it?

I am thinking that I would rather wish all of you good health and safety, peace and financial stability, rather than anything else.

I know what it is that none of us will have enough of, and which will be the most precious thing we own. That is time.

Time to be able to pause and see, feel and enjoy, all the good things around us. But most of all, time to have and to hold all those dear people we love and cherish.

This new year promises to be even more fast-paced and hectic than last year.

May your New Year find you having the time to enjoy those people and things that mean the most to you.

I don’t think I could wish for each of you anything better.

Love,
Roger
