I got onto my computer this morning and to my surprise I read that Apple had updated the .Mac online mail system. My guess is that this is the start of a total .Mac revamp, and possible a revamp for the entire Apple website.
The email page now looks a lot like the Apple Mail program and functions in a similar way. You can drag and drop to folders or the trash. There is a preview pane for quickly viewing what is in an email, and more similar functions.
I really like the new quick address look up. Just type the name of the person you are looking for in a little address field, and it instantly finds them in your address book. That will be a real time saver. No more having to wait for the address book to load.
All of this is nice, and it is a large improvement over the previous system. However, where are the spam filters? That is the one feature .Mac email is still lacking. Any type of spam system would be nice, even if you had to make a rule to filter out mail not in your address book. I would have thought a new email system would have this technology built in.
I did see a junk folder in the preview images of the new email system. Maybe it is coming in an update.
I hope so.
