Curses! So many things I must think about before launching in to play with my toy. I started with the setup assistant. How easy is this, I thought! Until it mentioned linking my old Mac to the new one with a firewire cable. No worries. My son had assured me we had a firewire cable. And so we did, but it’s the wrong size.
I thought maybe I’d better backtrack a little and THINK.
I opened the Take Control of Buying a New Mac ebook. Yes, it seemed I could transfer stuff by ethernet cable. However, while ruminating, I remembered I’d want to partition the hard disk. A technician has always done that for me before. I know enough to be aware I can’t partition any old time. My son says I have to partition from another hard disk. Is this true? My husband thinks you can do it from a CD/DVD and says the software to do it is probably on the disks supplied with the computer.
So wei’ll have a little pause now while I read the info.
Of course, if anyone wants to shorten the process by telling me exactly what to do, feel free.
Tomorrow, however, I can ring Applecare can’t I. Might as well make ’em work for their money.
