Nemo’s “Notes from Underground” v2007.11 — Final fotos from the festival

Here is my final set of pictures from 2007 Macworld Expo. We enjoyed having you along for the ride.

Paivi from IOGEAR holds a new mouse covered with material that is supposed to prevent bacteria or nasty germs from residing and passing on infection. Do you think it will do this mysterious task as well once it’s out of their impenetrable shrink wrap?

PORTAGO is an enclosure for containing, securing, encasing, charging, and operating your iPod, with a surprising list of other features. We’ll let you know if it all works once we receive a production model in three months.

Zoltan holds MCopy, UNICON SYSTEM’s innovative high speed USB transfer device for copying data, music, images, and videos from any card or drive to any other. It’s tricky to explain, but very easy to use. Watch MyMac.com, and we’ll try to get a unit for a video review. For a guy from Menlo Park, Zoltan has the best fake Ukranian accent you’ve ever heard. You’ll hear it when we interview him.

A closeup of MCOPY and the circuitry that makes it all possible.

Dusk outside San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Closing shop on MWSF 2007.

See you next year, one week later in January than usual (amen!), having no conflict with the huge Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This is a big deal for many exhibitors. Thanks, IDG, sponsor of Macworld Conference and Expo.

My daughter sent me this text message as soon as iPhone was announced. I felt a buzz in my pocket, and burst out laughing when I read her request. Sheba works hard, is financially secure, in her 30s, and in no need of permission from Dad. Her mutual fund statements gave her a few hundred more dollars (on paper) than she had a year ago. When my daughter is an early adopter, like she was with Apple’s v.1 miniPod, you can bet your mutual fund dividends the product is going to succeed. “Sure, Sheba. May I borrow it, please, as soon as you sign up for your supercharged Cingular data contract?”
