Today’s technology has truly shrunk the world. Despite living thousands of miles apart in many instances, the writers and voices of the MyMac team are not only able to put together all the content on the site, but to discuss, interact and debate many different issues on and off topic as if we all worked in a single office.
However, a massive part of all human communication is not verbal, and all of this is lost in email or Skype. As such, you can’t really get to know someone until you are sat across from them.
The beauty of my trip to San Francisco was not only getting to attend the show, but also the chance to get to know MyMac colleagues and listeners in person. The dedication and consideration of Tim and the rest of the crew in ensuring that we all were productive and yet had fun was inspiring. By the time I hit the showfloor for the first day, I felt that I had already gotten truly into the vibe of Macworld. This was because I had spent the last two days in the company of the MyMac crew.
Special mention must be made of intrepid listeners Eric, Mark, Beejay and David in wanting to come, participate and interact with us – allowing us all to fully understand what the site means to our audience. They acted as part of the team while they were with us, and it was a delight to meet them.
Tim has been doing MyMac for 13 years, and it seems like he knows EVERYBODY. He was so on the ball with catching the great and the good for a quick chat that I expected Steve Jobs himself to come down to the media room to join us for lunch!
If you are a fan of what we do, and you have the chance to come and meet us either here at Macworld or another MyMac event, I encourage you to do so. The MyMac family is a great thing, and I guarantee you will be entertained and enthralled in equal measure.
And if you are at the show before Friday, make sure you go down to our sponsor Prosoft’s booth and find out when Tim, Guy and Larry will be there doing the Apple knowledge quiz. Tim works the crowd like a master, and it is highly entertaining even if you don’t play!
