Does it bother anyone that this guy, Mike Rowe, with his website mikerowesoft.com, caved to Micro$oft? I think Mike had M$ firmly in hand, but he gave it all away. For what?
“(CNN reports) that Microsoft Corp has settled with Mike Rowe, persuading the teenager to give up his domain name in exchange for the cost of changing the existing domain to a new Web site, for some Microsoft certification training, for a new Xbox, for an invitation to a technology festival at Redmond, and for some other gifts.”
I think it is deplorable that people, especially young people give in too easily, and compromise things that mean something, and have value beyond material possessions.
Doesn’t ethics mean anything anymore? Is there no just act worth defending regardless of the cost?
This young man could have rightfully held out forever, because his cause was right and just.
But he caved. He sold out for an X box and M$ trinkets.
I would have held out for at least a BMW.
Regards,
