The land of Spain is utterly charming and its people are both proud and noble. They did not deserve this tragedy.
Exactly 911 days after September 11th, 2000, Spain felt the terror of Al Qaeda in their cowardly and henious act of killing hundreds of people and maiming thousands more in the bombing of the commuter trains of Madrid.
Many in Spain thought it was the work of the Basque Nationalist terror organization (ETA), as people marched in solidarity yesterday, carrying signs condemning the fringe group.
However, the ETA publically denied their involvement today, and officials have been finding evidence of physical links to Al Qaeda. It is thought that the Islamic extremists hit Spain because of their support of the United States in the war in Afganistan. (Such support by the government of Spain was not in agreement with 90% of their population, who opposed the war.)
Spanish Police arrested five people today in connection with the bombing. Three of them were Moroccans and two were from India.
Looks like Al Qaeda is going after an easier target than one in this country – or else they do not wish to be hammered again, as they were punished by us after 9/11.
So many innocent people died. So many injured or maimed. So many families and individual’s lives changed forever by the senseless acts of a few fanatics, whose agenda is pure evil.
Cowards!
