Looking for a new RSS reader.

NetNewsWire Lite used to be my favorite RSS reader. So much so that I payed for the full version. Of course, shortly after I paid NewsGator took over the program and made it free.

Up until today I have been using NetNewsWire. Honestly, I have been trying out other readers, but because of the free syncing service from NewsGator I stuck with NetNewsWire. I was able to keep my feeds in sync from computer to computer to iPod Touch.

Speaking of the iPod/iPhone app, that is also something I have been wanting to change, but I have kept it for the same syncing reason. The app is very buggy, and in need of an update (which is coming soon).

Back to the desktop app- It is being updated and I downloaded the beta of the next version. NewsGator is stopping the syncing services at the end of August and using Google Reader for syncing. I’m not a fan of Google Reader. It get updated feeds very slowly and delayed. However, if I had to use Google Reader, I’ll use Google Reader.

What is really turning me off now is that the desktop application is ad supported. I hate applications which have ads running through them.

NetNewsWire 4 is suppose to be in development, along with a possible paid version. I will try it, and see if it can win me back. (Hopefully, my paid version will amount to some kind of discount). Until then I am looking for a new reader for the iPod and my iMac. I guess it should have syncing with Google Reader so I can keep the two apps in sync. Any suggestions?
