Laundry Dryer Vent

So I am washing and drying cloths yesterday and today. Yesterday, I dried some heavy blankets, nothing my large cloths dryer cannot handle. Heck, the dryer is only about a year old.

I take the blankets out, and they are still wet. Strange. Put them back in. Dry. Damp. Dry again. Now they are dry.

Wash some jeans. Dry the jeans. Still wet! What the heck?

I thought the new dryer must have gone bad already. I was not pleased, to say the least. But I do an internet search, and learn I should check the outlet vent. You know, where the dryer vents the hot air outside.

That puppy was VERY clogged up with years of built-up lint. Thankfully, I have a nice long pole on my ShopVac. After a half-hour of work, I had all the lint cleared from the entire vent line, even vacuuming out the outside of it.

Now? Works like a charm, and in fact dries faster than the first day I used it. My advice? If you have not checked your dryer vent for build-up, you probably should. Not only will it make your dryer work more efficiently, it is also a fire hazard to let too much lint build up.
