It’s ALIVE (again)!

Hey everybody (Hi Doctor Nick!).

MacParrot.org is the second of at least four MacParrotty sites I’m making with different Mac webpage makers. The first MacParrot.com was made with Apple’s very own iWeb.

MacParrot.org was made with Fishbeam’s Goldfish program. Both sites have essentially the same content except for the so-called Parrotcast podcasts on MacParrot.org which isn’t working so well. Apple’s iWeb handled it with no problem. I’ll figure it out one way or another before I start doing my comparison reviews.

Even with some of the bugs I’ve encountered, Goldfish is a fun, easy to use webpage maker. The biggest difference so far between iWeb and Goldfish isn’t their ease of use. Both are pretty straightforward and will get the job done. iWeb however forces you to use .mac for hosting (at least if you want the advanced features) while Goldfish lets you put it on whatever host you provide and has built-in FTP (file transfer protocol).

Goldfish should also allow you to put click-through ads (like Google ads) with a handy drag and drop html box, while doing the same in iWeb requires some tinkering and thrid-party software. I wasn’t able to get it to work in iWeb, though that probably says more about my web skills since I know others have done it. I’ll be trying it in Goldfish soon.

Anyway, head over to MacParrot.org and click around. Send me email or leave a comment on the site (mostly so I’ll know how well that works).
