Is this the reason iTunes isn’t selling full length movies yet?

Out of curiousity, I just checked out Movielink.com from a Windows computer (you can’t access it from a Mac).

If you aren’t familiar with Movielink, it is a website where you can purchase or rent full length feature films for downloading. Just what we’ve been waiting for in iTunes, right?

After looking at the prices of movies at Movielink, I can see why there are no full length feature films in iTunes. The prices are ridiculous!

Want to download 2005’s King Kong? Fork up $27.99! Yup, $27.99. You can buy the DVD for half that price! Or how about an older movie like Jumanji? That is $18.99! If you watch the sales, you can buy that DVD for under $10. I checked out several movies, and they all had (what I consider) ridiculous prices.

No wonder movies aren’t available in iTunes yet. I can’t see Steve Jobs, and the powers that be at Apple, going for these kind of prices.

I’ve payed $1.99 for a television show in iTunes, and I’d pay $9.99 for a feature film. However, if downloadable movies are going to cost this much money, I’ll stick with buying a DVD.
