iPod Games and Future iPods

I’m a fan of the iPod game. I own several, and for me they are perfect. I don’t own a GameBoy or PSP, and I don’t plan on it. I do plan on buying more games in the future, assuming they are worth my money.

Here’s my question. Will these games be compatible with future iPods?

Based on what we have seen on the iPhone I am guessing they won’t work with that. If they will, why wouldn’t Steve have mentioned that in his presentation back in January?

Many believe an iPhone-like iPod is coming (minus the phone). Does that mean the games won’t work on that either? Will Apple continue to sell some version of the current iPod, and make the full screen iPod the top of the line model?

So far music, and videos have always worked from iPod to iPod and to iPhone.

With iPod games seemingly becoming more involved (see the new LOST game) I would expect more and more to sell. I’m looking forward to EA’s bowling game that was recently announced.

What do you think? Will iPod games go the way of old video games and need to be repurchased for a new system? or will they remain compatible on a future iPod?
