The other day I was thinking about what iPod I would get if my 30gb 5th gen iPod broke.
I don’t want a Touch. While cool, it would be a waste of money for me. The main feature I like is WIFI and 9 times out of 10 I have access to a computer when I would use that feature of the Touch. Plus, I really like having the click wheel.
The Classic? No, I don’t need the storage. I only have 10gb filled on my 30gb iPod.
The new Nano? That is my initial thought. I like the small size and weight. It plays video, which I love about my current iPod, and it plays games (another feature I love).
However, after thinking about it more I would probably go for a $200 refurbished 30GB. Here’s why: The new Nano comes with more expenses than just the iPod. First, there’s the case. Second, there’s the video accessories I have now that won’t work with the new Nano. Third, I’d have to repurchase my games, most of which are not even available on the new Nano. I’d still have 1 year of Applecare, and the chance to buy more.
I might even consider getting a refurbished 2gb Nano (only $79 right now!) to go with it for having a light iPod for biking and hiking and those times when I don’t want the weight of the 30gb iPod. I also don’t need all of that music and video for a one hour hike or bike trip. I’d probably load it with some podcasts, too.
So, what would you buy if your current iPod broke today? Leave your respone below.
