First off a bit of pub for my old friend Stephen Becker. Stephen has a new version of WebPrint. I lamely participated in the beta testing. Usually I would have beta tested the crap out of the latest version but with the move (more later) and the fact that I really enjoyed the earlier version prevented me from doing a bang up job. See I use WebPrint as a nifty little word processor so as long as I can keep using the new version in the same manner as the previous version I’m not going to poke around too much. Too put a finer point on it: I saw no room or need for improvement on the earlier version of WebPrint so as long as I could keep using it the same manner I wasn’t going to give much feedback. It’s still a really nifty program check it out.
I’ve been moving from one house to another (previously mentioned) and it’s gone okay. Todd helped all day Saturday and I slid him a video cam for his effort. The thing is I didn’t have broadband at the new house so I kept driving by my old house to grab the WiFi signal and check my mail. I felt like I was wardriving my own house. The cable guy hooked me up today and, interestingly, gave me the broadband pitch. He, in fact, told me that I couldn’t get by with dialup no matter what that guy said in the giveaway paper. Two things: I’m that guy in the giveaway paper and I never said that. I opined that you could save time with a newsreader. I asked the guy if he read the article. Answer=No. Some customer had mentioned that the giveaway paper said you didn’t need broadband anymore…sheesh. I didn’t tell him who wrote the column.
Things to do soon: Write review of foottrack, hook up wifi in the new house, write something interesting and publish Todd’s early art.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I found a large cache of fellow mymac denizen Todd Long’s early art. In fact I found a lot of old cartoons drawn by Todd and myself, those were okay (At one time I could draw a little) but I found a huge trove of Todd Long originals. All I can say is: watch this space for “Zee Bad Mescal”
OK
