How About Some Real Video Previews in the iTunes Music Store?

So the iTunes Music Store keeps growing and gaining more and more channels. Just recently they added shows from Showtime. Personally, I don’t have Showtime, or HBO, or any of the premium channels as part of my cable service. The more channels and shows that hit iTunes the better. I can finally see some of the shows my friends and family talk about.

However, I just wish the people who control the preview content would give us better previews for these, and all the other other shows available for download. How am I suppose to determine if I want to buy an episode of “Weeds” by watching the opening credits? Instead, I’d like to see a real commercialas a preview, so that I can see what the show is about. A minute would be nice, but you can still say a lot in thirty seconds.

This holds true for all of the shows in iTunes. I downloaded an episode of “Surface” last week (I taped the wrong channel on my antique VCR). Before downloading I watched the preview to make sure I was getting the right episode. Did it help? Of course not. I had no idea what the episode was about from the thirty second clip I watched. For all I knew, I was watching a scene I missed in an earlier episode. An original air date in the listing would have helped too. It was the most recent episode in the list, so I downloaded it and hoped for the best. It was the right one, but what if it wasn’t? Apple wasn’t going to refund my money.

All of these new shows have commercials. Would it be that difficult to convert the commercial to an iTunes preview?

Even most of the older shows have commercials. The question is, are they archived anywhere? Even if they aren’t, make a new commercial so we can see what we are getting instead of these random clips and credits.

Just a thought. leave yours below.
