Forrest J. Ackerman, the grandfather and hero to many of us science fiction fans, has left us. He has gone on to whatever awaits. Mr. Ackerman was best known as the publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland, a comic style magazine I sometimes enjoyed as a boy. He was also the owner of one of the largest, and best, collections of science fiction stuff on the planet. He was known to frequently open up his home to visitors on Saturday mornings, just so fans could enjoy the collection.
Mr. Ackerman is credited with discovering Ray Bradbury, and later acting as a literary agent for both Bradbury, and Isaac Asimov.
Bless you, Forrest J. Ackerman. You will be missed.
