The first article talks about an illusion, drawn from my experience skiing, that seems to apply to the entertainment industry and their fixation on DRM. Basically, no single adult has time anymore to really worry about pirating, even though the aggregated effects seem to be alarming.

The second is based on my reading lately about HD DVD and how Microsoft,
in its eagerness to defeat the PS3 with their Xbox 360 may have killed
the HD DVD format as a side effect.
