Walking the Expo floor door today, it was great to stumble upon the Plasq developers booth, staffed with a group of young, energetic developers who were very excited to announce the update at Macworld of their award winning program, Comic Life 1.3.
I’ve had Comic Life installed on my computer for several months now because it’s a neat program for doing fun comic layouts with your digital photos. I turned my daughter on to it and of course she likes it as well.Â
It’s an easy, intuitive program that allows you to create comic book type layouts that can be converted to PDF format or exported to your website. If you manage to create enough comic pages, you could even export your completed work to iPhoto and publish the files in an iPhoto book.Â
The updated features include improved visual previews for image filters, panels and pages, and the ability to add extra tails for speech balloon, so that that you can have for example three subjects saying the same thing.Â

The interface of Comic Life is clean, user friendly, and just down right fun. It ought to come installed with all new Macs. It’s a great compliment to iLife programs.
In speaking with one of the developers, I learned that the program is also very popular in schools. They offers affordable site licenses and support. It’s a great way for kids and adults to learn literal and visual communications skills while also having fun at the same time.Â
I bought the program because I thought it might be a great alternative way to present how-to information.
A Plasq representative also showed me a beta version of a screen capture program that they will debut in a few months. This program will come with a dedicated website so that you can published documents directly to the web without ever having to mess with HTML code or FTP uploads. I think it’s going to be equally well accepted as Comic Life.
Congratulations, Plasq, on todays update at Macworld. The timing was great and the exposure is well deserved.Â
