Unlike Adobe Illustrator, which has a steep learning curve, Art Text 3 is easy to use and the main window is straightforward and minimalistic. The canvas or art board occupies most of the center space, with icons along the top left hand drawer that contain a library of templates, smart and custom shapes, backgrounds, canvas effects, and layers.

ArtRage 4 for OS X – Review

When I purchased my first iPad several years ago, the first art painting app I installed was ArtRage. At the time it offered, and yet continues to have, the most realistic oil painting brushes of any painting app for the iPad or iPhone. As I use it so frequently on my iPad, I was eager to use the Mac OS X version on my new iMac.

Adobe Photoshop Touch – Review

Many photographers, myself included, have been patiently waiting for Adobe to develop a powerful photo-editing app for the iPad to compare with Photoshop. Adobe launched Photoshop Touch last year for the Android platform and Photoshop Touch is now available for the iPad. It is compatible with the iPad 2 and New iPad but the iPad 1 is not supported. As an image editor Adobe included several terrific features gleaned from Photoshop that are not currently found in other photo-editing apps.

Adobe Creative Suite CS 5.5 Master Collection – Adobe Illustrator CS 5 & Adobe Flash Catalyst CS 5.5, Part One – Review

Adobe Flash is a multimedia platform that is used to create vector animation and interactivity to a web page. Flash Catalyst CS5.5 is an exciting application for you to create interactive elements on a web page without writing code. I have to admit I was skeptical. Adding Flash animations has been intimidating at best, as I am not a web developer nor do I write code. Flash Catalyst allows you to import an Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or an Adobe Fireworks file to use for your animation. Adobe has made Flash Catalyst a robust, yet easy to use, Flash experience for new and experienced web designers.  As I decided to use an Adobe Illustrator CS5 file to import into Flash Catalyst for my animation, let’s discuss what is new in this software.

They are not compatible with earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop.

The black and chrome battery charger is lightweight and compact, and easily slips into a pocket, purse, or camera bag. The unit measures 2.5″ x 2.3″ x 0.7″ and weighs 1.75 ounces. The device has a built-in USB cable that neatly tucks into the rear of the charger and has a power check button to indicate battery status. The dock connector is compatible with all recent generations of the iPod and iPhone. I also found that it charged my iPad 2 in a acceptable amount of time although the specifications do not mention the iPad. That was a pleasant surprise.

Go Mini Nano Wireless Optical Travel Mouse – Review

I really like this portable mouse. You just plug in the nano receiver, turn the switch on, and it’s ready to go. It is rather small but I found it comfortable to use without hand or wrist fatigue. Users with large fingers or hands might find that it is a bit too small. I used it with and without mouse pad and found it made virtually no difference with cursor speed or sensitivity.
