John Farr tells me stick insects this size are unusual in America.
We spotted this in a tree near our verandah a week ago. I’m not sure what sort of bird it is. At first I thought it was a female figbird, but it’s markings aren’t quite right. Maybe it’s a juvenile. It has a nasty look in its eye, don’t you think?
It’s about the size of a smallish pigeon, so you can see how big the stick insect is. I’ve actually seen them bigger than this.
