A Macspiration iPhoto 08 Tip

Yesterday I found myself stumped with an iPhoto 08 printing problem. I had an image I wanted to print on a letter sized piece of paper, but it was larger than 8.5×11 inches. iPhoto kept cropping the image to fit into the 8.5×11 space, and I could not figure out how to have the image scaled down to fit into the paper dimensions without cropping.

Photoshop lets you do this, and, if I remember correctly, it was very easy to do in the older iPhotos.

An email to the MyMac.com staff brought some suggestions, but the solution came from a post I made on the Discussion section of Apple’s website.

A poster named “Anastassios T” gave me the following directions:

“Select the photo and click on the Print icon,
Select the Paper Size and Print Size from the options or Standard for the default Print Size.
Click on Customize. You will see the photo (cropped) on the page, click on the photo to select and then hold the control key and click on the mouse.
From the the Contextual menu select “Fit Photo to Frame Size”. You should see the entire photo on the screen. Click on the Print button.”

The directions were perfect. I don’t know why Apple made this so hard to do or find, but thanks to “Anastassios T” my problem was solved.
