With school out for the summer, and having spent last week painting my classroom I now have somewhat more time to peruse quality journalism (in between writing my masters thesis). This morning on MSNBC.com I had the privilidge of reading what I consider the best article on the issues facing Saudi Arabia.

Granted, it is not perfect, it fails to give a more detailed description of the Wahhabies religious mindset. But overall, it present a terrifically balanced view of how the Saudi royal family has created a true dichotomy. The very best and brightest came to America for education and most never went back permanently. It also points out how corruption within the royal family has placed a deep mistrust of the royal family.
My conclusion after having read all three lengthy web pages is that the author considers that the royal family my first quickly deal with its internal demons, then press outward with reforms to society.
