CONFESSIONS OF A TIME TRAVELER

First, I must correct a mistake. When Roger Born erased his past, and at the same time, removed any evidence of his time traveling, his blogs here got erased too. I’m restoring them here and now. People need to know what happened. And I need a place where I can write all about my travels. Someone needs to know about them, so they are not lost forever.

I was lost forever, BTW, but with help, I’ve returned. Of course, there is already a Roger Born here and now, and I have no real place here, but my Publisher, Tim, has graciously given me a forum, and I intend to use it, for whatever time remains to me.

Here is the first of the blogs that were erased. Lucky for me, I had them on my iPhone, which is always with me, wherever (whenever) I go.

CONFESSIONS OF A TIME TRAVELER (REPEAT)

(I must write this down quick, before it all fades from memory!)

Let me make it easy for you. When you face that portal, don’t cross it.

Believe me, it will be the best choice for you and everyone else.

How i wish I had someone to tell me this, back then.

Its not really time travel anyway. It is traveling between infinite universes. You don’t know that when you step across, but eventually you find out. Because just the act of stepping through that luminous door creates something new that perhaps did not exist before, and perhaps should not have.

The place you go to looks almost identical to where you were. But there are differences, which you discover much too late.

Time is different there. You could be in the past or in the future, but only within your own lifetime. There does not seem to be travel beyond that. I do not know why this is so. Perhaps it is because we each live within our own little universes. And when we connect with someone, our universes merge for a time. When we leave, theirs goes its own way, and we go in ours.

For some reason, all reality works just this way. Things you do, decisions you make, all have some impact on others, for good or bad. There are no second chances to make a first impression. There are no re-dos or do-overs. There is only time to try to make things right, here and now.

I thought the portal would change all that, but it doesn’t. Whatever you do there is as immutable as it is here. The past there can not be changed, any more than it can in this present reality, even if you are in that past to fix it.

This present reality.

Every reality feels real. But there is something inside you that makes you yearn for your own, once it is gone. And that same something makes you cringe at whatever reality you are in that is not your own.

The portals, these doors, only work in two directions. You cross the threshold once, and you come back. There are no other portals on the other side, leading elsewhere or elsewhen. There is only one. Again, I do not know why this is so, but it is.

But I do know this. once you crossover and come back, there is only regret.

Whatever you did on the other side, you have no idea if it was really for good or bad. There is no way to tell. Whatever you did there, again, is immutable. Things are different there, because you were there. And even if you got what you wanted there, somewhere in your parallel past or future, you only bring back a sense of great loss and deep regret.

Why?

I think that it is because time passes in this reality, while you were gone. You missed things. You did not interact with people here. This is felt as personal loss. There is a chunk of your life missing here, regardless of what you experienced elsewhere on the other side.

This is why I gave you that excellent advice. Don’t cross over. Live where you are, in the reality that you have been given.

I’ve already given you other advice here, in these pages. Live within your means. Pay off all your debts. Spend time with those you love. Try to do good to everyone where you live. Forget the past. Plan for the future. But do it in the here and now.

The grass is not greener over there. Life somehow does not become immortal over there. There are no secrets over there that cannot be discovered here.

But I did not follow my own advice. All I saw was adventure and a chance to ‘fix’ my past. A chance to peek into the future and gain advantage here.

Let me assure you that the past cannot be fixed at all. No matter how often or how hard you try. Obsessing with the past can only rob your present here and now. It is not worth it. Forget it and go on. Try to be a better person here and now. Grow where you are planted.

As for the future, it is not yours. You sneak into a future Keynote and see what will be revealed. You bring it home and make ‘predictions.’ Guess what? You saw an alternate future. it is not the future in your reality. Your predictions are not all that accurate. Why? This is when I discovered that time travel is not that at all, but it is a journey to another universe next to your own. And those are infinite in their differences. And none of them are yours. (And no, any future lottery numbers you get will not work in your reality when you get back.)

Your reality. Learn to love it. Stick with it. Make it the best one you can. Regardless of how bad you might think it is, believe me, another one will not be better. Instead, if you chose another one, you will only be robbing yourself of the one you have been given.

It is not worth it.

(Still not convinced?)

Let me be blunt. There are two kinds of people in the world. The wrong ones and the right ones.

Wrong ones are time travelers. They are incredibly selfish individuals. They want the best of it. They want something that they did not earn. But it is what they become in the process that makes them monsters. First they steal what is not theirs. Then they become liars. How can they not? Since when they are elsewhere, they are living a lie. Then they become murderers. Oh, it is not intentional. Perhaps they are trying to help someone else. But it always ends up that way. They kill. They had no choice.

Then I faced the horror of my present reality when I returned, for it had all changed, and none of it for the better. Then reality slowly melted and changed before my eyes, until it was all back the way it was before I interfered. Somehow, the past is unchangeable, and of that, I am very glad, because no one had to die. That is when I decided to become a right person.

Right people are not like the wrong ones. Where they are, they are doing good and right things. They would never become time travelers, except perhaps as victims. They are content to remain where and when they are. And their world is blessed because of their right nature.

Yes, a wrong person can become a right person. All that is required is that they lay down their life and die.

Having said all that, I have dismantled the portal. There will be no future ones in my lifetime, nor hopefully, in anyone else’s lifetime. In this alone, I have no regrets.

Having said all that, I fixed it. I went back and prevented the invention. The portal never existed. (Which is why I must hurry to finish this, before it is forgotten.) My life is so different now. I am doing good, and I enjoy my life as a right person. Because you see, I had to die in order to prevent that invention from becoming reality. In the end, I died preventing it, and when I woke, (which was very unexpected for me), I realized that it was worth the personal cost to do that. In this alone, I have no regrets.

(But what happened in those places I had gone? I believe that once i left, things reverted to what they were before I ever was there. So my being there had no effect, regardless of all my errors there.)

Love,
Roger
Glad to be home again.
No Sig tonight.
No film at 11.
