Kudos to Tim and Chad for the new MyMac podcasts!
I’ve also run a few already at my FarrFeed blog over at Salon.com. You can catch any future podcasts by subscribing to the RSS feed and having iPodder X download any audio files that I enclose with the blog posts. The audio gets skimmed off and downloaded separately, in other words, so you can ignore the written content if you like. I’m not producing “shows” like Tim and Chad yet, though I still might.
In any event, you don’t have to subscribe to FarrFeed to get free audio! Podcasts are fine, but just go to FarrSound and you’ll find tons of downloadable MP3s. There’s a lot of weird stuff: at least one narrated GRACK! column: live recordings of 20-year-old original rock & roll songs by the Zoo Pilots; VERY bizarro ’70s string band music from Austin, TX; and a number of FarrSound LIVE recordings. The latter are the closest things to actual podcasts: everything was recorded with binaural microphones positioned at ear level to capture ambient sound as realistically as possible. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND headphones for maximum effect!
Oh, and what about the bonfires and gunshots?
They’re from the traditional Christmas Eve procession at Taos Pueblo. A thousand people, zero degree cold, Pueblo warriors shooting deer rifles, and a whole lot more. Crank it up real loud and you’ll be amazed. Here’s the blurb from FarrSound:
“Christmas at Taos Pueblo,” 12-26-2004, Taos Pueblo, Taos, NM: 15 minutes of gunfire, singing, and matachines dancers. There’s nothing like it in the world. MP3, 13.70MB. •DOWNLOAD•
I’ll be posting a lot more of these MP3s. Every new one will not only be available at FarrSound but also included in the FarrFeed RSS feed. See what you think and have a great time!
