[GRACK!] The Writing Life
“That shook me almost as much as the apparent murder-suicide in Questa that was also in the paper, though it rated just a paragraph in the sidebar. Questa, a tough little town between Taos and the Colorado line, is not a place where death speaks softly, and the terse description of the scene at the dead couple’s trailer was a bit too close for comfort. I knew they were poor because the husband used a .22, but somehow he got lucky and finished the job instead of ending up a vegetable. They call it “murder-suicide” because one person holds the gun, you know. Me, I have to wonder, especially when women die.”
