Today’s project was installing Linksys Wireless-B Notebook Adapter into new Dell laptop. Effortless. Followed instructions for “Quick Installation for Win XP” in printed pamphlet, and BINGO! was immediately achieving strong signal strength with Internet access to Comcast cable broadband system. Nemo’s previous wireless installation experience has not been all clear sailing, so if you use Windows XP and are considering a wireless device for portable broadband, Linksys is a good choice.
We’ve reviewed Linksys products previously. Nemo and Weeks both have active experience using Linksys PowerLine networking routers and bridges with Macs. Linksys doesn’t “support” Macintosh, but their gear *should* work most of the time, and their phone techies usually make extra effort to help MacPersons, when appropriate.
Solid equipment, reasonable prices, 24/7 free phone tech support. Nemo likes Linksys.
