As the proud owner of a 3G iPhone, and with a passion for listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and music, I find myself constantly syncing my iPhone with my iMac. Unfortunately, Apple does not include a dock with the latest incarnations of the iPhone, or, as I like to call it, “My Precious.” As a phone owner who prefers to roll with my phone naked and case-less, I’m always trying to find a soft spot on my desk to set the phone during syncs and charges. The Dexim MHub Dock Station offers a great solution to my conundrum.
The Dexim MHub Dock Station combines the functionality of a USB hub, a media card reader, an iPod/iPhone/Blackberry dock and charging station, and a digital camera connection to your Mac, all in one compact package. People can take advantage of this combination of features and de-clutter their desktops.
The packaging of the MHub has been thought out with the consumer in mind. The cable ties are all hook and loop, the packaging contains a minimal amount of recyclable plastic, and, best of all, there is no need for scissors to cut open one of those clamshells so notorious for cutting fingers. Every cable in the package has a small tag indicating what it’s for. Thank you! A leather bag for transporting the MHub with you on the go is also provided.
The MHub adds three more USB ports to your Mac, something you can never have enough of. It also acts as an adjustable, cushioned charging dock for any iPod or iPhone with a 30-pin connector. A cable for connecting to a Blackberry is also included. The syncs are fast and the charging occurs as speedily as if you’re connected directly to your Mac with the cable that comes with your iPhone/iPod.
The media card reader works well, with file transfers into iPhoto occurring quickly. The reader will accept HCSD, SD, or MMA media cards via a slot on the left side of the unit.
There isn’t a lot to complain about when it comes to the MHub. I noticed that the LED indicator lights on the front of the unit were a bit small and tough to see in a well-lit room, but other than that minor note, I was extremely pleased with the MHub and am considering purchasing one of my own.

Hey, I know it has been quite a while since you reviewed this, but it seems to be the only dock I can find which has external power supply. Does it charge the phone while the Mac/PC is turned off? I am looking for a solution that I can put on my desk and be sure to charge, and if the Laptop is turned on will sync as well…
Best
Philipp
Hey Philipp,
I just checked on that for you. I turned off my iMac and threw a 2nd gen iPod Nano on there. Sure enough, it’s charging away.
hey nice article.
on the site there are two different types :
Premium MHub Dock Station (DWP 005)
MHub Dock Station (DWP 001)
what is the difference
on the DWP 001 do you choose what plug you get because im in australia and i dont want a us plug so do i get this or premium?
thanks
Hey Sebastian,
I’m not sure if orders from Australia come with the proper plug or not. Perhaps e-mailing Dexim would get you an answer? I did find a review foam Queensland on it here: http://www.feris.com.au/blog/index.php/2009/08/dexim-mhub-dock-station-for-iphoneipod-touch-blackberry/
Hope that helps!
