This book proves that you can teach an old dog, like me, new tricks. My children and I have been online since we got our first Macintosh. Two years of America online, two years of a local, now national ISP – Networld – and for the past ten+ months we’ve enjoyed a cable connection through AT.. Lately I’ve been feeling, like the guy in the commercial, where his computer tells him he has reached the end of the internet, until I stumbled upon this book at the library. Not only does it have a new WWW. addresses on almost every page – An internet trawlers dream – It is loaded with Macintosh and Windows tips on:

  • How to select an Internet service provider, Web browser, and e-mail software
  • Help in developing online search strategies with the latest generation of tools
  • Tons of WWW.’s addresses, to use the best online databases, libraries, and government sites
  • New ways to explore multimedia applications such as streaming media, Web conferencing, and desktop videconferencing
  • Tells you how to generate leads and make contacts by posting queries to mailing lists

  • And also – Expert writing tips to “Write for an online audience”The first thing that attracted me to this book is the fact that it is written by women. Women who unlike me, are very well educated, and know things that I can only pretend to know!

    Second, I noticed that Macintosh tips were presented before Microsoft tips. Maybe that’s alphabetizing -But- I prefer to think, these intelligent women are net-savy Macintosh Women, who dabble with Microsoft!

    Third – I ran out and bought my own copy! Mostly because I had planned to, but truly, I bought it because when I tried to renew it at the library online -(Damn)- There was a hold on it! Seems someone else wants to check it out!
