Marware has produced cases for iPhones, Blackberries and of course, iPads. The one thing that comes across of all of this is that Marware produces products that the user will find are well thought out and designed to be stylish and functional without breaking the bank.
The C.E.O. Hybrid for iPad case is composed of faux leather that upon first glance appears to be a carbon fiber twill patterned case. In reality, Marware has produced a case that is low profile, relatively light weight, with an injection-molded interior structure that provides rigidity to the case without producing additional unwanted weight. The interior of the case has a suede-type covering that protects the iPad from scratches. The interior right side of the case is set up to hold the iPad securely in place, and I do mean securely. There are four solid corner pieces and two off-center pieces that once you set your iPad in place will not let it come out without your specific intent and assistance to get it out. The left interior side of the case has two grooves that run the length of the case and are positioned for you to set up the iPad for viewing purposes. There are also two solid pieces that are centered on the left side that besides securing the left side of the case to the iPad when closed, also serve as another stopping point when you want to set the iPad into a position to type on the screen.
An added bonus to the left side of the case is the elastic strap that allows you to place you hand underneath it and securely hold your iPad while you use your other hand to work the touch screen. The left side of the case folds all the way back and is held in place by an elastic strap that prevents the case from springing back. When the iPad is set into the case, all of the access points and control buttons are readily available.
Placing the iPad into the case is relatively simple, just set it down, start with the right side, move to the middle and then place the left side below the corner pieces and the iPad is in the case, with no chance of falling out. To utilize the case, the best way to do so is to hold it with your left hand and using your right thumb, push on the top left corner support, using the remaining fingers to pull up on the iPad, then do the same with the lower left corner support. You can now move the iPad to the first groove on the left side of the case for landscape viewing. If the angle is not good enough, simply move the iPad to the next grove to the left and you are all set. If you want to set your iPad so that you can type, you simply move the iPad to the far left where the two center-placed support pieces are and your iPad will now be at an angle that permits you to easily type on your iPad.
I have been continually using the C.E.O. Hybrid in all modes and have not discovered any issues with wear and tear on the case itself. The ability to swing the left side of the case all the way back, secure it with the elastic strap on the right edge of the case and then hold the unit with the larger strap is really a pleasure. One thing for potential users to be aware of is the fact that the bottom, right and top side of the iPad are not protected by the case all the way around.
Looking over the case, it is well designed and stylish, formed to hold the iPad in place. The price of just below $50 is acceptable for what the case allows the user to do with it. Setup of the iPad within the case is simple and straightforward. The case looks great and does not add that much additional weight when you are carrying it around, be it at work or in your house. The case comes only in basic black. The only downsides that a user may consider is that the iPad is not protected on three sides, but the case is not designed to be an armor surround for your iPad nor can it be placed in a dock for recharging. However, the pros of Marware’s case far outweigh any cons that one may see.
For iPad 2 users, Marware has already produced a C.E.O. Hybrid case for the iPad 2 with some additional features. Check it out!
All in all, I give the Marware C.E.O. Hybrid for iPad a My Mac rating of 8 out of a possible 10.
$50 was never an acceptable price for this case. However, it’s now $10 on the manufacturer’s website, so I ordered one.
Glad to hear that you got a good deal on it!
