I have an app called “MobileRSS for Google Reader” on my iPod Touch. It is my current RSS app of choice, but that is not the point of this article.
The app has a great feature in it. When you tilt the iPod it detects the tilt and will rotate the screen. That is not the feature. The feature is the ability to turn this off in a really nice way. When the app detects the tilt a lock appears on the screen. You can click the lock to lock or unlock it and in turn choose to turn tilt on or off.
I love this feature. If you ever have tilted your iPod just too far and have tilt kick in when you don’t want it to (like I have) you’ll like it too.
In fact, I think Apple should implement this into the OS. Either the ability to turn tilt off completely in the System Preferences, or better yet use this technique.
