Helping Morgan, another loyal TMUGger, to index his mighty 17″ iMac G4, which has never been indexed during the many months he has owned it. How to index in Jaguar?
We found out by looking in Apple’s built in HELP application, the one located top of screen in the menu bar.
Click once on your hard disk icon (usually upper right on desktop), then mouse to File -> Get Info. Next, mouse to expand Content Index, and then click on Index Now. A progress bar begins, and you can go have lunch or shovel some snow or take a long-overdue shower, if necessary.
Eventually your entire hard drive becomes indexed, meaning you can locate anything you wish using Jaguar’s speedy File -> Find command. If you’re too lazy or stubborn to index your drive, you definitely need that shower pronto.
Also! You’ll need to UPDATE that Index, friends, on a frequent basis.
