Welcome to the letter page! My Mac gets many letters, and while I would love to print them all, I just do not have the space! However, I do dip my hand into the electronic mail beg every month a print a few of the ones I like and want to share. So if you want to see your letter printed, write more than “Subscribe My Mac”.
The first letter was not sent to My Mac, but I have decided to print this letter here in the hope that one of you readers can provide some information. I found this request for information on a USNEWS group posting, and I hope one of you may help out.
Mac for Quadriplegic
I have a friend who was recently paralyzed in a bicycle accident. His family wants to get him using a Mac.
I remember a device that moved the cursor in response to head movements. The device was worn on the head, and the receiver was located on top of the monitor. What was this unit called, is it still available, and where? How was the clicking accomplished?
If you could suggest where else I might inquire, I would appreciate it.

In issue #5, I listed a top ten shareware list that you, the readers, told me you use the most. Since then, I have only had two follow up letters, so I thought I would print them here.

I agree with most of the shareware selections, but really like/use the following:
Sav-O-Matic

BeHierarchic (pre 7.5)
ApplWindows
PopChar
KeyQuencer
DragAnyWindow

Tim,
I thought I would share with you some share/freeware programs that I use. I use these programs on a Power Computing Power 100 and a Performa 630CD running 7.5.X. These are not in any particular order. All of these were found on AOL.
1) ShrinkWrap 1.4.2
-This utility is like Disk Copy on steroids.
2) Printchoice 1.4-lets you select or change printers from the menu bar or create a drag&drop printer icon without installing/requiring QuickDraw GX.
3) QuickPop 1.2-lets you launch programs or other small macros with key commands-very simple and nice
4) Snap-To 2.0.1 Snaps your pointer to the highlighted button on a dialog box
5) Replace!1.0-changes the highlighted button on a replace/don’t replace dialog box.
6) Aaron 1.1.2-gives system 8 Copland look to Mac- very nice and easy to use
7) ArtValve 2.0-for AOL and eWorld users-replaces new art work with a default icon instead of waiting for new artwork to download.
8) the Typebook- prints out type specimen pages
9) TechToolx v1.07-lets you easily perform some system operations like rebuilding the desktop and zapping PRAM
10) Enterprise icon- yes I know it isn’t a program but I created it and I am very proud of it. Also I thought you might like it since you are a Treker.

Joel sent me what I am sure was a very cool icon, but for some reason the file was damaged when it was sent, and I was not able to see it. So if you’re reading this, Joel, send it again! I would love to see it!
Thanks to both Bob and Joel for sending me their list. A few of these programs I use myself, and one (Snap-To) is reviewed in this issue! If you want to send me a list of your favorite programs, please do! I am keeping tabs on the numbers, and will print a new Top Ten if enough of you write in.
DS9DS9,
Thanks so much for the service you’re rendering. I’ve enjoyed and been helped by each issue so far.

Thanks for the kind words! Coming from Barbara Mandrel, that means a lot! What? You’re not her? Oh, well, thanks anyway. (Boy, thought I had a celebrity there for a minute! Oh well, I am not a country music person anyways…)
I just read “My Mac”: I liked it! Can you please review some neat stuff for us old users using system 6 ? Also is there a MacError for system 6…? I downloaded MacError and it is for system 7… or can you suggest some downloads from AOL that will benefit, or is neat, to run on this old Mac Plus?
Please write.
JunkerDon@aol.com
Thanks for reading, Junker! I will try to review more system 6.X programs here in My Mac, but to be honest, most people have changed over to System 7.x now. And why not? It has more features, more programs available for downloading, and 7.x (not 7.5) is available for downloading (for free) on AOL.
As far as a MacError type program, look for EasyError 1.1. It does much the same thing as MacError, and is available from AOL.
